Vietnam's fruit and vegetable export prospects in 2025

By 2025, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable industry aims to achieve export turnover 8 billion USD, an increase of about 11% compared to 2024. This growth is based on outstanding achievements in 2024, when fruit and vegetable exports reach more than 7.2 billion USD, an increase of 27% compared to 2023.

Growth drivers:

  • Expanding international markets: Vietnam has exported many types of fruits such as durian, banana, jackfruit, mango, longan, lychee and dragon fruit to major markets such as China, the United States, Japan and the EU.

  • Negotiating to open new markets: It is expected that Vietnamese passion fruit will be licensed for export to the United States in 2025, opening up opportunities for other products.

  • Improve product quality: Focus on green, organic and circular agriculture production to meet increasingly stringent international standards.

Challenges to face:

  • Compliance with international standards: Meet the requirements of quality, food safety and traceability from import markets.

  • Climate change: Affecting productivity and quality of agricultural products.

  • International competition: Compete with other fruit and vegetable exporting countries in the region and the world.

To achieve the target of 8 billion USD, the Vietnamese fruit and vegetable industry needs to continue to improve product quality, expand markets and meet international standards, while effectively responding to the above challenges.
