Vietnam to import beef from Belarus

Vietnam and Belarus are moving closer to starting beef imports from Belarus. During his visit to Hanoi in late March 2025, Belarusian Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Ivan Smilgin met with Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien to discuss agricultural cooperation between the two countries.

According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus, Vietnam has confirmed its readiness to approve veterinary certificates for Belarusian beef in the near future. This will significantly expand export opportunities for Belarusian producers. It is expected that about 20 Belarusian enterprises will be allowed to export beef to the Vietnamese market after completing the necessary procedures.

At the same time, Vietnamese partners also expressed interest in opening the market for poultry and pork from Belarus after completing the beef certification process. Mr. Smilgin invited Mr. Tien to participate in the international exhibition Belagro 2025 and proposed to hold the next meeting of the joint working group on agriculture within the framework of this exhibition.

Importing beef from Belarus not only helps diversify the beef supply for Vietnam but also promotes economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
